The Season 1 Finale of the Ticked Podcast is here! After one year of awesome interviews, Ben and Lib record one last Stoppage Time episode. There is a big announcement - could this be the last Ticked episode? They cover ticks and tick offs of podcasts, play a trivia game created by a special guest and look into the future of the podcast. Don't forget...tell all your friends!
Megan Langford – Director of Partner Marketing for TEEM, mother, fitness instructor and donut lover. As she’s grown (personally & professionally), she’s learned to divert from the safe and comfortable path to find her own greatness! She struggles with “imposter syndrome” but loves helping others overcome it. And side note, make sure you don’t deflect her questions!
Michael Langford – a seasoned Criminal Defense Lawyer in Salt Lake City who’s passionate about skiing, ultra marathons, rock climbing...basically anything that presents a physical and mental challenge. Believe me, he’s tested mentally everyday at the office, and balances that out through physical toughness tests nearly every weekend.
Brittney Nielsen – a writer, blogger, actor, artist, and walking rolodex of literary quotes. She thrives on thinking about what not a lot of others think about, and then bringing that to life to challenge perspectives. She’s eccentric and embracive of those ticks that may threaten others but helps her frame her reality
Nate and Candice Leavitt – a Utah-based couple with four boys, ages 3–9. They had an idea, sparked by Candice and executed by Nate, which turned into a blog and Instagram account that inspires people to get out and plant wild roots. This power couple has a goal to share genuine content and create relationships with real moments.
Spencer Lee – an Immigration Attorney with a few tricks up his sleeve and comedic stories to share. He’s been friends with Ben for 12 years and friends with Lib for 12 minutes – they bonded over his Hermosillo Naranjeros Baseball hat (Not Houston, Ben). As an Immigration lawyer specializing in Removal Defense and Affirmative Applications, Spencer has helped clients from over 65 countries.
Ben and Lib take a break from the standard guest template to celebrate one of Lib’s least favorite holidays: Halloween (please don’t judge him). A few scary stories are told and these are a must listen, full of special sound effects…until they realize they aren’t very good. We then learn why this holiday is such a double edge sword, full of Ticks and Tick Offs.
Real Salt Lake Tailgaters – those RioT’ers who stand up, #AsOne, and #Believe. Ben and Lib head out of the studio and visit fans on their turf. It’s MLS Decision Day where the top 6 teams in both conferences advance to the playoffs, and the other 4 are left watching from their flat-screens. RSL must face Sporting KC - and we’re not sure if it’s the players or the fans that hate this rivalry more.
Ernie Harker. He is the Executive Director of the CREATE Team at Maverik. He’s done it all. Illustration - check. Voiceover and Acting - check. Start up and run a creative studio - check. Give birth to Nitro - yeah…check. At the end of the day, he’s just a dude that loves enjoying simple moments with loved ones.
We take a break from the standard guest template, welcome back Mo and discuss our love/hate relationship with social media. From bathroom selfies to helping someone in need - social media is there to infuriate and sometimes remind you that the world doesn’t revolve around you. Just remember one thing, it’s your platform so do what you may!
Trent is an entrepreneur who’s connecting American innovators with Chinese manufacturers. Trent wanted to learn Chinese, so he took a job in Asia. He wanted to create a fitness lifestyle, so he wrote a fitness program. And when he wants to get more done in less time, he hustles. Simple, right?
Emily's an instagrammer and attorney who hooks up thousands of people with cheap flights, including her growing family. As an attorney, disclaimers make her tick and getting her credibility questioned ticks her off. Keep in mind, this kind-hearted go-getter is still flying by the seat of her pants as she navigates the ins and outs of social posting.
Russ Dixon is a photographer, videographer, and music producer who earned his street cred performing behind the mic and in front of the camera. His passionate life has been one milestone leading to another as he’s been recruited for nearly every career opportunity. And those links exist, when he shows up at his best and captures the stillness and beauty of the moment.
Lib and Ben take a break and discuss our own Ticks and Tick Offs about Checks & Balances. Lib is a man of balance, has been his whole life, and he’s put Ben in check a couple of times. But does that friendly reminder come from a place of love?
Josh is an extroverted, intuitive, feeling and prospecting kind of guy who’s also 65% turbulent. He’s a true free spirit, often the life of the party, and a fiercely independent person who craves creativity and freedom. But it’s that freedom and independence that may come back to haunt him later on. He took the 16 personalities test, and now he’s ticked.
A 4-time WMNBA All-Star and MVP and holder of 2 Guinness World Records who’s been pursuing his dreams his entire life, no matter how those dreams have evolved. Many audiences have turned to Jeff for inspiration, for motivation to Get Up, Get Out, and Get Going. When you align your dreams with your desires you make the impossible, possible. And that’s what Jeff is: I’MPOSSIBLE™.
You may know him as that “Maverik Guy," but did you know how he found his success by challenging the grey areas in-between rules and expectations? From convenient store clerk to store manager, Nitro’s ideas and anecdotes pushed his reputation to the Maverik Convenience Store front office. Seems his “never settle” mantra has helped him get quite far, with limitless new adventures down the road.
Peter is an international finance attorney and host of the Sports Law Biz Podcast. He gets his reset by journaling, eating cereal, and awaiting that homecoming commute each day. And when he’s not taking “jabs” at colleagues through jabber, he’s red-lining financial documents and billing clients for meals past 7pm.
Lib and Ben deviate from the standard guest template and discuss our primary ticks and tick-offs surrounding communication: the age-old personality trait that personally, we’re trying to navigate. Companies and couples invest their time and resources to tackle this elusive phenomenon, and once you think you’ve mastered it, you’ve only just begun the cycle. Don’t believe me? Go ask your spouse.
An ex-volleyball player and video “gamer” turned to app developer, Byron has focused on his personal education and progression and is self-learning through MBA school. He’s a nice guy, but doesn’t like DINKS and can give you the New York City attitude.
He's a former class clown who eventually packed up and left California to pursue his undiscovered passions. After spending thousands of dollars on camera equipment to only sit in his closet for months, Cameron found himself filming music videos and commercials. Listen and learn how you are only as good as the people you surround yourself with.
It’s another stoppage time, where we deviate from the guest template and discuss the ticks and tick offs of money and finances. What was Lib’s dumbest purchase? What happened to Ben during his financial “wake-up” call? And, as we discuss our first jobs, which one of us was “bah-da-dah-da-dah...lovin’ it” while the other one was buh-buh-bratty? Subscribe on iTunes and leave us a review!
He's a college student with more drive than the lead singer of Brand New writing a breakup song. Don’t let age fool you: lasting relationships, inspiring his colleagues, event planning, and sophistication through simplicity keep this undergrad maturely moving. And when he’s not spotting false information on resumes, he’s a proven resource to get people where they want to go.
We take our studio on the road, and go to where Utahns have all heard, “It’s what FUN, is!” We’ll see about that. An original amusement park to Utah, Lagoon provides entertainment, thrills, babysitting, TerrOR Rides, people-watching, germ-infested handrails, and plenty of Ticks and Tick Offs. Let’s just hope Lib and Ben can sneak in their recording equipment before getting kicked out by the teenage security guards.
Spinari's a local DJ and Podcast talent who’s played in clubs all over the world since he was 14, and most recently, having turned 21, was allowed to play in Utah. He thinks he’s just crazy enough to change the world through his love of music, and here’s to the crazy ones, cause those who think they can, are the ones who do.
Ryan Snarr – Part 2. He’s an illustrator, a social learner, and a goal-setter. Ryan follows invisible design that supports targeted messaging and avoids desperate marketing tactics. We talk about cell phone culture, Donuts at the office, Hot Dogs at car lots, and staying engaged at work.
Ryan Snarr – Part 1. He’s an illustrator, a runner, and a goal-setter. Ryan loves discovering the lesser-known features of design, and absolutely hates epic fist bumps. When he’s not running, he’s designing marathon logos. And when he’s not designing, he’s checking out Pet World in Kanab.
We bring in a guest from the past to deviate from the standard template and share those insights and life nuggets that fuel our fire. Sit back, grab a Maverik Coke, and join us as we share our ticks - and hopefully, one of these strips of paper will inspire you as you pursue your passions.
Teisha's a wife and mother of three who balances her full-time job with creating memories and experiences for her children to look back on. She directs her team at Pick Your Plum remotely, and directs her husband to clean up after himself while she’s away on “Office Wednesdays.” She’s fine admitting that sometimes, not all of life’s contributing elements fall perfectly into place. And if you think they do, shoot her an email. She’ll make sure she hits “Reply All.”
She's an ambassador for schedules, color-coded organization, managing right-brained individuals, and proving people wrong. Aside from directing a creative team at Jane, Alyssa pushes her body to new mileage limits training for her next race. When someone says she can’t do something, watch her not only do it – but watch her kill it. And when she’s not exceeding expectations, she’s hanging out in her pristinely clean apartment, watching F•R•I•E•N•D•S.
A father of 5 whose humorous late notes to cover his kids' tardiness evolved from elementary embarrassment to a social following. Seth finds interest in anything creative, from performing with a local improv group to building furniture that rivals Pottery Barn. Hitting rock bottom didn’t stop his creativity and he's found a new rhythm combining all personal passions in professional life.
Lib is 2 weeks away from “Happily Ever After” and Ben is begging under the overpass. We get behind the mic to take a retrospective look at those relationship experiences that have led us down our own paths. Our tick and tick offs are actual quotes from actual past girlfriends, and Lib shares his Tinder best practices.
Kent Dunn, or Kenny D, is a Pop Culture Analyst and Film Critic who created a kickstarter fund to attract one specific celebrity to his featured podcast. Now with Beckinsale sporting Baconsale t-shirts, Kenny analyzes pop culture, debriefs box office busters, and thrives on originality when producing and consuming media.
Ben and Lib decide to take the show on the road! Our hosts meet interesting people and have a story or two for the show. But these drivers have normal lives too. What’s the craziest passenger story? Would an engineer become an Uber Driver to keep things interesting? See what makes Uber Drivers tick.
A Brand Manager and Creative for an outdoor product company, Landon lives and breathes a personal identity that syncs up well with his corporate lifestyle. And when he’s not running an ultramarathon or hammocking with his kids, he’s spending time outside and avoiding the Target check-out line.
Listeners have requested we take another step back and produce our second, “Stoppage Time” Episode where we deviate from the standard template and discuss what we normally don’t cover on guest episodes. Today, it’s personal – Adam, Lib, and Ben get real, get pissed, and [try to] get over what really ticks us off.
Jake Larsen: Video Marketer, Entrepreneur, and Adwords Extraordinaire. Jake started his own business after receiving a Google Invite to YouTube HQ to research a new marketing trend. Now he creates those YouTube Ads that play before all those cat videos your aunt watches and it’s freakishly surprising how much research goes into targeting those ads, specifically for….you.
She's the founder of the Female Foodie blog, sharing restaurant reviews, recipes, and swoon-worthy photos. She makes lists, builds her collaborative network, and trolls online negativity so her contributing team, and the rest of us, know where to go for food that makes us feel alive and avoid diabetes.
Blaine's an instagram-based connection freelancing his way into Nike’s front office. Or at least trying to. Drawing upon digital and physical manifestations of design, he’s found a way to tell his story at the intersection of soccer and typography. Oh, and he describes his trips by identifying the color palette he found in the scenery. We’re really glad we followed him.
Austin and Ryan Cope are brothers who, along with their third, started a company producing an all-in-one photography bag when they found the marketplace lacking. Two years later, they’ve successfully funded two kickstarter campaign goals within days, sold to 63 countries, and have received numerous retail and photography awards. Maybe now, one of them can move out of his grandma’s basement.
It’s our first “Stoppage Time” Episode where we deviate from the standard template and discuss what we normally don’t cover on guest episodes. We take a step back, sip on some drinks, and list out the music and the podcasts that make us tick.

He's the Founder & CEO of Denik Journals, a company that produces artist-designed notebooks that help to build schools. Tyler is a passionate prioritizer, a motivator, a dedicated father, and an anti-hoarder who brings creative alternatives to boardroom boredom.
A social media marketer and weekend warrior. As any other millennial in the workplace, Mo spends her “9 to 5” connecting her clients with the social media masses. But interestingly enough, the very thing that creates her paychecks more often than not ticks her off.
Welcome to Ticked. In this introduction episode, Lib, Adam, and Ben talk about the history behind this podcast and what motivated them to start recording. By no means are they 3 professional podcasters...rather, creating something new, and learning by doing, is something that makes all 3 of these designers tick.
